A Comprehensive Itinerary of the Chardham Circuit
Several Chardham Yatra Packages are available for individual Char Dham temple visits or Do Dham Yatra and for the entire Char Dham Circuit, also known as Chota Char Dham. the pilgrimage is covered in a clockwise direction in the sequence - Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. Here’s a well-crafted itinerary for your reference.
Day 1. Arrival at Haridwar / Dehradun - Haridwar is known as the gateway of Char Dham. Mostly, devotees tend to take a holy dip in the Ganges and then proceed with the Char Dham Yatra. Reaching Haridwar involves a journey by train, bus or private vehicle. Alternatively, coming from far away cities, pilgrims can opt for taking a flight to Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun and proceed for the pilgrimage.
Day 2. Haridwar to Barkot (193 km) - Start your journey from Haridwar early in the morning. Drive to Barkot via Mussoorie, stopping at Kempty Falls for a brief visit. Overnight stay in Barkot.
Day 3. Barkot to Yamunotri and back to Barkot - Drive to Janki Chatti from Barkot (45 km), then trek to Yamunotri Temple 5-6 km each side. After darshan, return to Barkot for an overnight stay.
Day 4. Barkot to Uttarkashi (82 km) - Drive to Uttarkashi from Barkot. Visit Vishwanath Temple and other local attractions. Overnight stay in Uttarkashi.
Day 5. Uttarkashi to Gangotri and back to Uttarkashi (99 km each way) - Drive to Gangotri Temple early in the morning, perform rituals, and explore the serene surroundings. Return to Uttarkashi to halt for the night.
Day 6. Uttarkashi to Guptkashi (199 km) - Drive to Guptkashi, with scenic views along the way. Overnight stay in Guptkashi.
Day 7. Guptkashi to Kedarnath (30 km drive, 15 km trek) - Drive to Gaurikund, then trek to Kedarnath. Visit Kedarnath Temple and board a lodging near the temple for an overnight halt.
Day 8. Kedarnath to Guptkashi (15 km trek, 30 km drive) - Trek back to Gaurikund, then drive to Guptkashi for an overnight stay.
Day 9: Guptkashi to Badrinath (200 km) - Drive to Badrinath. Visit the Badrinath Temple and explore nearby attractions like Tapt Kund and Mana Village. Overnight stay in Badrinath.
Day 10. Badrinath to Rudraprayag (150 km) - Drive to Rudraprayag, visiting Joshimath en route. Overnight stay in Rudraprayag.
Day 11. Rudraprayag to Haridwar (157 km) - Drive back to Haridwar. End your yatra with a visit to Har Ki Pauri and participate in the Ganga Aarti before departure.
